Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System Approved

Very Exciting development in the realm of Retinitis Pigmentosa.  The Argus II machine has been approved by the FDA.  Last April, we had a speaker, Paul D'Addario, at the Lions Club Meeting about the subject and he showed us the prototype that he has been engaged in clinical trials on. Paul is one of Thousands who suffer from Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) a disease that progresses and leads to functional blindness.

 

Vision-Restoring Retinal Prosthesis Receives FDA Approval

The Argus II retinal prosthesis, a device that can restore some vision to people who are blind from advanced retinitis pigmentosa (RP), has received U.S. market approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Developed by Second Sight Medical Products, the device will be available later this year in approximately 10 clinical centers across the country. New vision testing apps for Android and iPhone

I happened to be looking online today and found out that there are iphone and Android Apps to perform vision screening.  So neat.  It has most of the common tests you would normally perform to test for things like colorblindness, myopia, nearsightedness, and astigmatism.

Funeral Services to be held for area Lion

Marcel Bedard of Woodbridge, VA passed away on April 29th.  Marcel was incredibly active in the local community in the past 49 years and did amazing things as he matured in the Lions Club. 

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA 22192. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 14160 Ferndale Rd, Woodbridge, VA 22193.
